Prayers for All
During the Coronavirus Emergency
When Mass cannot be Celebrated Publicly
A leaflet has been produced to help us join in the celebration of Mass – even though we cannot be physically present. It can be accessed from this link:- https://saintbenetsbeccles.files.wordpress.com/2020/03/when-mass-cannot-be-celebrated-publicly.pdf
Note that this document is written to be printed double-sided and folded to become a 4-page, A5 booklet – like our weekly missalettes.
Spiritual Communion Prayers
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Blessed Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there, and I unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen
(St Alphonsus Liguori)
I wish, my Lord, to receive You
with the purity, humility and devotion with which Your Most Holy Mother received You,
and with the spirit and fervour of the saints.
Come, Lord Jesus.
Give me, good Lord, a longing to be with you:
give me warmth, delight and quickness in thinking upon You.
And give me Your grace to long for Your holy sacraments,
and especially to rejoice in the presence of Your very blessed Body,
Sweet Saviour Christ, in the Holy Sacrament of the altar.
(St Thomas More)
Act of Perfect Contrition
My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against You whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with Your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Saviour Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.
In His name, my God, have mercy.
Prayer during the Coronavirus Emergency
God our Father, Creator of the world, almighty and merciful:
Out of love for us, You sent your Son into the world
as the doctor of our souls and our bodies.
Look upon your children who,
in this difficult time of confusion and dismay,
in many regions of Europe and of the world,
turn to you seeking strength, salvation and relief.
Deliver us from illness and fear;
heal our sick, comfort their families,
give wisdom to our rulers,
energy and reward to our doctors, nurses and volunteers,
eternal life to the dead.
Do not abandon us in the moment of trial
but deliver us from all evil.
We ask this of Thee,
who with the Son and the Holy Spirit,
live and reign for ever and ever,
Mary, mother of health and hope, pray for us!
